The Guster CD arrives!

So, my new Guster CD arrived. This one was Goldfly. It’s one of their older CDs. You can tell it’s older because all the song titles are spelled out. (Just in this week’s People, pgs 41-53 refer to “Since U Been Gone,” “When I See U,” and “Nothing Compares 2 U.” What R U trying to say? I am too old to listen to your music?)

At any rate, I asked Gary how the CD was, since he had already grabbed it and downloaded it.

“Awful!” he bellowed.
“Really? Who sings lead? It was odd to listen to Parachute because evidently Ryan sang backup.”
“I don’t know who sings.” (pause) “Alright, I didn’t pay that much attention.” (pause) “Fine! I only listened to one song, but it didn’t grab me.”

I always suspected music reviewers only listen to the first four songs only one time before writing a review. Evidently Gary can form an opinion based on the CD cover and track 1.

  1. I did music reviews in another life and listening to only the first four songs before forming an opinion is about right.

  2. Gary is nuts! Goldfly is a great album. I know you must be familiar with Demons and The Airport Song since they still do those songs in concert. Great Escape is rocking and fun, but my favorite song is Bury Me. You can really hear Brian hitting those bongos during that song.

  3. Kathy – well… that’s just wrong. Of my song list on the right, only two( 5 Months, 2 Weeks, 2 Days and It’s Sweet) are on the first four. Melissa – You are right. I’ve heard it, and I es[pecially like Bury Me.

Comment, even if you aren't on WordPress. Make up a name. Fine by me.
