What? Typepad is shutting down? Oh no. I have no idea what to do.

Typepad, blog provider, tells me:

We have made the difficult decision to discontinue Typepad, effective September 30, 2025.”

I squawk, What? What? But you are my one and only blog provider. I have been faithful to you for twenty years.

They go on to ask:

“What Does This Mean for You?”

I immediately think: Not just me! What does it mean for Big Dot? And while Typepad presents the question of What Does This Mean, the only answer is “Better download soon.” I immediately think “What does this mean for me?” I’ll have to find some other way to cope when Gary says something insufferable. And worse, I will be fired because I will no longer have this pressure release valve for the inappropriate thoughts I cannot share at work. Where will I vent that which is NOT SAFE FOR WORK? And seriously, I just yesterday survived a massive work layoff, and now I will be fired.

The only good thing is that I do still have the domain name http://www.mocklog.com, but I think that is managed by Typepad.

So I have lots of questions. They point me to a 404 FAQ page. Perhaps they are waiting for me to generate some questions they can answer.

One response to “What? Typepad is shutting down? Oh no. I have no idea what to do.”

  1. I’m not with Typepad so I think I’m ok. Can you just change your provider? (I know ‘just’ is entirely the wrong word to use.) I have actually had the first 7 or so years of my blog turned into books, because I don’t trust the internet. Something else for my kids to throw away when I snuff it, but it’s kind of comforting meantime.

Comment, even if you aren't on WordPress. Make up a name. Fine by me.
