Nervous

Stress week continues at work. Yesterday was Defcon One Stress Day. Today is Discretion Day, in which we are to keep our counsel and not gossip.

While yes, I see the wisdom, my body is rebelling against the stress and the silence. On me bodily rebellions always look the same: anything food-related is abandoned. The only organic material that stays put lies between my duodenum and the left half of my transverse colon. Anything above or below that safe zone? It evacuates via the nearest exit.

I think I read somewhere that my primal body is dropping ballast so it can run fast and escape danger. Primal bodies are stupid. Not helping in this situation, primal body.

  1. Yeah. It’s … not a fun … physical response.
That said, you are not only dropping ballast so you can run fast and escape danger – you’re also allowing your body to reassign blood/oxygen from your digestion *to* anything else urgent, like the brain. I think the distraction of the means of evacuation is probably more of a downside than the extra blood flow is an upside, but at least it’s there …
(I hope it gets better soon. I’m sorry it sucks.)

  2. KC – Well, the work stress has been greatly reduced in the last 48 hours. Good to know about the blood flow though.

Comment, even if you aren't on WordPress. Make up a name. Fine by me.
