Review: Deaf President Now

Remember when Fahrenheit 9/11 came out, and everyone loved the one scene where Michael Moore took us through the 9/11 footage with only the audio? It felt like such a creative choice.

Deaf President Now has that creativity running through every single scene, only it’s with audio cutouts at key moments and imagery motifs with flashing emergency lights. The presentation was so good that the story could have been garbage and I would have kept watching.

But of course, the story is great: it’s about the Gallaudet student uprising in the 80s.

Oh and the “characters” are great too. Especially the woman, and to be honest it’s partly because she aged so much better than the men.

Highest recommendation for this documentary.
