I mean. The toy bank does not make much sense *in a photo*! No wonder it’s tricky to paint in a way that will make sense. I get that drawing/painting things that look weird/wrong can be a Learning Technique for how to force your eyes and hands to reproduce SHAPES not IDEAS (I mean, the 2d shape something exactly IS visually instead of the shape it is while your head is interpreting what it’s seeing?) buuuut it seems like maybe unnecessarily unpleasant in this case?
Anyway: sometimes extremely challenging practices can be useful for learning and growing, but only if they don’t suck all the motivation and interest-in-painting out of you. I personally think it would be reasonable to call NEXT and either do a painting from scratch as a breather or touch up a more rewarding one?
KC- I think in this case a true artist would do studies. The head straight on, three-quarters, from the back, head in the paws, and so on, so you can learn it. Were it a real head and you were DaVinci you could dissect it. I am not doing that. I’m calling it, especially when I have my next thing lined up.
