I saw both seasons of Mindhunter when they first came out on Netflix.I re-watched it all over again this weekend.
After that, the Netflix demographic algorithm conferred with the YouTube algorithm and my Google history.
Netflix: Okay, this is the second time this woman has binged this show about serial killers. What do you think, YouTube? Should we report her?
YouTube: Well, I’ve been serving her all the clips from this Fascinating Horror channel …
YouTube continues: You hear about some plane crash, fire, sinking, then after ten minutes you start another.
Netflix: Does she watch any of them twice? With Mindhunter she didn’t back up and watch the creepy bits over and over like some do. And to her credit she skips the creepy subliminal intro every time.
YouTube: Everyone skips your intros, Netflix. She sounds like a sick puppy to me. Google, what searches has she done lately?
Google: Uhhhh … trolley problem, ethics of trolley problem, ethics of attempted murder, Breville Smart Oven, is planning to murder someone wrong if the person never finds out.
(Amazon Prime walks by in the hallway then pokes his head in the room.)
Amazon Prime: You talking about that Ellen woman? You know when this started? I showed her Disaster: Autopsy last year.

So I’ve been on a month-long morbid streak. I think it’s kept me from catastrophizing about Gary’s rash every minute of the day.
