This week Granceil went from this:
… to this.
That’s closer to the goal, which was this.
I give up. No more portraits. Unless someday I return to Granceil and start over entirely. And as is my wont, my next thing will be easy: drapery and croquet balls in primary colors or something.
Later: I’m adjusting the mouth tilt but I’m not inflicting it on you all.
Even later: it would be fine but I lost the 20 degree tilt to her head. So it will never end.

You’re obviously getting better at it, but yes, portraits are *frustrating*! Especially extremely specific, personal portraits.
(you *did* get the look in the eyes, which is amazing! But yes, sad to lose the head tilt.)
KC – I am getting out Dad’s analog angle finder and giving it one more pass to get that tilt.
… but you’ll probably lose the eyes if you do! Maybe another version, in a month or two?
KC – No! Must try now. EVEN IF i am on a painting slump. It would be too easy to give up in all painting altogether.
Could you try a second copy instead? But also yes, do not give up on painting!!!
KC – I have removed the mouth and the eye on the left, then got the angle measure and scratched in the tilt lines. Should be ready to finish Thursday.
Ooooh! Will look forward to it!
