Quiet election

It’s, what, a week and a day until the presidential election? I feel like it’s been too quiet.

No door-to-door canvassing. No one but the one Republican came by, but he was campaigning on behalf of a Congressman. And he was rebuffed. And, perhaps people see the “Blue dot” yard sign and know we are pretty decided.

I just saw my first presidential election commercial. It was officially approved by Kamala Harris, and I think it was either during The Late Show or the CNN town hall. I have seen no commercials with “I am Donald Trump, and I approve this message.” Or, more probably, I have fast-forwarded through them.

And finally, and this is the best: no Robo-calling. This is the first presidential election since we switched away from cable, and my phone has been silent. I was sure there’d be deep fakes flying at me every minute, but no.

On one hand, I love it, on the other, I want Harris out there in my face, on my phone, at my door. It’s a tie. How is this possible? If you prefer Donald, I see his appeal, carry a big stick, sure. But we had him, and it was embarrassing.

My fear is that it will be another Bush v Gore, but the decision will come on January 20th. By the way, we need a term other than Bush v Gore for a delayed election result, something like when a monarchy has a Regency for a delayed coronation. The Indecency?

Ugh. What if it’s delayed until January 6th? That would be the worst. I bet there are plans for that right now.

  1. I am extremely anxious and have been doing canvassing to allay my anxiety. If i had you on my canvassing list, and I saw a blue dot sign, I would knock on your door for sure. One of the things we ask (to supporters of our candidates) is, Do you have a plan to vote? and we inform the voter of the various options available to them for ways to vote.

  2. CHM – Well, I am sure in four years we will be all ready to vote absentee-in-person, just this year was bad.

  3. There are TONS of ads on YouTube, which I watch a bit of every day. At least I see a lot of them. and I’ve been getting a lot of text messages from both sides. The other day I almost replied extremely rudely to one from DJT, but instead I just deleted and blocked. My husband has already voted by absentee ballot, but I’m an in person voter unless it isn’t possible. Super anxious here as well.

  4. Kristie – When I see an ad on YouTube I focus all my attention on the skip Ad link to such a degree that I don’t even know what’s on screen.
