Weekly Paint Progress: 3/4

This week the dog went from this:

0C670D96-4D87-476E-A0B2-F1C3347ACDB7

… to this:

1A8550C1-4576-40E2-8902-24A9FBB09859

… and now I hate every part of it. The lips, the box, his back, and the blanket especially. And why is he lighter? I didn’t paint any of the dog but his lip. I really need to study how shades and colors influence each other. Of course, it could be that I put it on a different spot to take the photo, thus different lighting.

The town went from this:

5BA2CB7A-4E5F-4AF1-A77F-424263435BEA

… to this:

EAF414D9-DD3F-47A0-BA15-E02BFAC3077F

…and I can accept that.

  1. I’m impressed (positively) by both.
I’m pretty sure everything looks lighter if you give it a darker background, though I am Definitely Not An Expert on this.

  2. KC -Everything in the top half has to get even darker still. The next thing is a big still life too. I’ll be sure to paint all the dark parts first, including the background.
