This happened yesterday.
I got in the car and pulled out the phone, because I wanted Siri to give me directions to the nearest Whole Foods, because they have the toddler-aged cheeses that I like — but I didn’t tell Siri that, I just said:
“Hey Siri, give me directions to Whole Foods.”
“Getting directions to Panera Bread,” she answered.
“Saint Louis Bread Company,” I mentally corrected her.
Then I said, much more distinctly. “Hey. Siri. Get. Me. Directions. To. Whole. Foods.”
“Getting directions to Panera Bread,” she answered, again. I looked at the screen and saw a map of how to get to a Panera.
I would have tried a third time, but I was at a stoplight, and I decided to go to the park instead.
She won’t do it now, of course. I was within two miles of a Panera at the time.
I have two theories:
- Amazon is associated with Whole Foods now: Amazon Alexa is Siri’s greatest competitor: ergo, Siri is sabotaging attempts to get to Whole Foods.
- Where do you get bagels? Panera, aka Saint Louis Bread Company. And what do bagels have? Holes. They are hole foods.

That is baffling (and somewhat perturbing). But I like your theories!
KC – it’s infuriating I can’t get her to do it again.
There’s gotta be a record of Siri requests along with GPS coordinates and what Siri said, but I don’t know if it’s consumer-accessible…
KC – Amazon Alexa keeps track of what I say to her and I can access it. Perhaps Siri will read this and skill up.
