Post-Partum Opossum

Oh, this poor girl. See how she’s having to straddle that pouch.

Imagine: after carrying babies and then delivering babies, the babies crawl back up into your body and then weigh you down as you try to get some food. And you know they’re suckling at all twelve teats she has inside her pouch. They’re draining the nutrition out of her as fast as she can put it in.

I bet the next time I see her she has one less baby in there. Opossum morals allow a mom to reach up in the pouch and pull a baby out as a snack if it gets to be too much for her.
