Ah-nomatopoeia

Gary has a little trouble with accept / except, and frankly, I do too. They’re homophones and then the two exceptions just throw it all off. I have to study up every time. I once edited his Facebook posts for accept/except, but it’s just too much.

I’ve also noticed that instead of typing “Uh-oh,” he spells it “Ah-oh.”

I don’t know if I could truly correct that. Perhaps that’s what he hears and what he means. If Ukrainian cats say “nyav” and not “meow,” then I think Gary can say “Ah-oh.”

Speaking of what cats say, does anyone know what bats sound like? Gary has come in from feeding the raccoons these last few days and he says he can hear a chorus of bats in the trees. I’ve heard it too. It sounds like dozens of squeaky birds singing in the night.

Bats would be SO cool. But, sadly, I looked it up and unless they are flying around (and unless we both have remarkable hearing), they don’t make any of the typical freaky static bat sounds.
