Gary Drug

Gary before the thyroid drug:

Gary

It’s been a week now that Gary’s been medicated for his thyroid.

On the first day he was literally pounding on his skull from the seizure activity and panic attacks. I’m amazed he made it to day two.

For the next few days, he was fairly normal. Then, at two am, he burst in the room and announced he could feel his feet.

“MY FEET FELT WEIRD AND THEN I REALIZED I HAVEN’T BEEN ABLE TO FEEL MY FEET FOR YEARS NOW AND NOW THEY’RE BACK! AND THIS FLOOR IS DIRTY!”

That went on a day … and then other body parts started waking up. In answer to your question, no – the painful body parts. His chipped elbow started hurting again. His torn shoulder. And then today his lower back began acting up again.

Still, he’s decided he rather be alive and in pain than sick and numb.

Today I asked why he wasn’t watching the news. “I DON’T KNOW! IT’S THE THYROID PILL! THE PILL TELLS ME WHAT TO DO!”

Gary this week:

  1. Not continually watching the news sounds like a quality of life improvement to me! (yes, being informed global citizens is good; but no, hours of watching the same news will not make you more informed, just crankier and more tired.)
Sorry about the in pain part, however. But yes, alive is good! (I hope he decided that it was *his* job to do something about the dirty floor rather than by default your job, however… ๐Ÿ™‚ )

  2. Oooh. ๐Ÿ™‚ (If he only realized how sexy that would be!)
(not actually kidding: so, so many female friends are *more* turned on by spouses doing the work that needs to get done (especially when the prospect of doing that work was tiring them out even more) than by things like flower purchases. Not universal, though. But surprisingly common, especially among female friends with children under the age of 5 or so.)

  3. Yes, dealing with “customer service representatives” until things get fixed – that’s good stuff right there. ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. KC – actually, he was able to do it all with automated help from the website. Dealing with customer service – he would never love me that much.

  5. Oh. Still, the whole thing which is basically “I am aware of what is bothering you and am taking actual steps to fix it” – sexy. More sexy or less sexy depending on exactly how many dragons they’ve slain… er, customer representatives they’ve talked with, and whether they were mostly doing it because the thing bothered them, or mostly because the thing bothered you, but still: sexy. ๐Ÿ™‚
(maybe with enough Thyroid Meds he will love you like that? ๐Ÿ˜‰ I mean, potential for a whole new person, right? ๐Ÿ™‚ )

  6. KC – you are right, I have a new husband in the offing (again). We’ve had Morning Man, Humidity Man, Retired Gary, (R.I.P Work Gary), and now … ThyroidMan! Able to reset the landline.
