- I think I’m feeling better. It did get to the point that 1) I cross checked the temperature in one ear against the other (and there was a difference of 2.9 degrees) and 2) I Googled my symptoms (“Liver failure,” Google said dispassionately). Really, I feel like something’s still wrong, but it’s all too vague.
- I did feel better enough tonight to make roast broccoli and chicken and dumplings for dinner. I’ve never made dumplings, in fact I’ve never had dumplings. They were … a cooked tasty paste. Like untoasted croutons. Then I made popovers, with that 30 minute rest built in, and they were fabulous.
- I Twittered @cnn and told them to shut up about Donald Trump. It didn’t take.
- I officially ordered Gary’s replacement certificate of live birth. The Illinois government wanted me to prove online that I truly was his wife Ellen, so the dropdown asked me to identify if I’d lived in Florissant, where I got my Social Security card, and if I owned the house at Mom’s address. Mom’s address. In the dropdown. That’s some damn fine programming there.
- You can steam your ostrich feathers to make them curl, but pressing a butter knife into the spine every quarter inch is much easier.
- We don’t get the mile-wide F5 tornadoes in Missouri like the ones they got today in Alabama. I would live in my basement.
- Back to work tomorrow. We have all moved at work, and I am in a lonely little outpost. I think I’ll see if I can get through the whole day tomorrow without speaking with anyone. It’s possible.

I’m impressed by your productivity while ill, especially the humanitarian relief efforts aimed at stemming the Trump-related pain. Hope you are well soon, and the toxic marinade is overrun by your immune system – picture your T and B cells basting you protectively.
Ooo, I see someone’s been reading her Mrs. Beeton’s.
Glad you’re feeling better.
I consider it a great day when I don’t talk to anyone all day; I’m the first cube in the door in our section so I often get all the questions. FYI: I have this cube because our secretary gets a window cube because she’s spoiled.
We got tornadoes today in NJ. WTFBBQ?
I’ve never curled feathers, I have no idea how I’ve avoided it so long.
Tami – Really? I missed them and they missed me. There are times when I’m glad I work in a room where there is no possibility of seeing the sky.
Mare – I think I had a bug that never did take hold. Like a pseudo-flu.Becs – I had to look up Mrs Beeton! I am lame!Amy in StL – I try SO HARD not to talk to the first person in the door. Tami – The earth is too cold there. I agree, WTFWJD,BBQ.Becs – Can still hear the freight train sound of a tornado.
