A Moment at the Office

Came in from lunch and sat down in my cube. The first thing I saw on my screen was a meeting reminder.

“Alert: Kick-off Meeting for Critical Behavior Prioritization Team”

“Um, what? Since when? No no NO. Fuck you very much, I will NOT be at that meeting.”

As I was reaching for the mouse to get THAT bit of busy work off my screen I felt something was amiss. Out of the corner of my eye I saw an unfamiliar floral arrangement. I realized I was in Joy’s cube, the cube between Steve’s and mine.

Stupidly I announced to myself, “This is not my cube!” Then I tried to sneak down to the next cube, the one I’ve been in since last September, the one I usually get to without getting confused. Too late. I should have realized Steve heard it all. He found it funny, somehow. Leaning in my doorway snorting funny.

I wish I was able to wake up early and swap the furnishings in Joy’s cube with those in Steve’s.

  1. Why did I not see this?? I’d been there since 6:00 a.m.! Oh, wait. I now recall the commotion and laughter from both Steve and Joy. Damn. I wondered what that was.

  2. Why was Joy’s computer not locked? Tsk, tsk! You should’ve emailed Jim about your wonderful co-worker Ellen.

  3. Sherri – That would be epic. And as such, probably frowned upon. Caroline and Libby did strew liquor bottles all over a coworkers cube once, that was epic.3 – Nope, not from Joy, she was headed for that stupid meeting. Hattie – Adorable! Caroline – No, I am flying low. Jim doesn’t need to know I exist. In fact, I had to think a little to remember Jimmy-boy’s last name.
