How [sic] is this guv?

Dear Maria from Buenos Aires, Argentina:

I am writing you this open letter to commiserate with you in your recent public humiliation. It must be degrading to be outed as the girlfriend of the DUMBASS who is evidently trusted to run one of our United States.

Sincerely,

Ellen.

Everyone else:

I am torn on how to feel about the Governor.

  • On the one hand, a), primarily, to wit, say it with me: … dumbass.

  • However, he has the frankness to own up to his failings in a press conference and take questions.

  • In his defense, it just may be possible Maria is the anonymous tipster who revealed the steamy emails to the paper. She wanted to force his hand. His only choice is to resign and be with her.

  • Or perhaps he really is just stupid. He spells “lightning” “lightening” [sic].

  • Yet let us not forget: if he got to Argentina he must have been bright enough to have remembered his passport.

  1. I am so glad to see you feel the same way.Their letters are amazing and remind me of those written to me by my fiance. I think he deeply loves her and if that’s true, I can’t imagine being in their situation.

  2. This from CNN.com – it must be contagious:
… he ignored those shouting, “Are you going resign?”
Whew. No split infinitives here. What a relief!

  3. I am amused that he was one of the voices calling for Pres. Clinton to resign, as having “lost the trust” of the country.
“Lightning” is the bolt. “Lightening” is the act of brightening. So lightning is lightening. I’d have to see the context.

  4. He was “struck by lightening”, which, in my mind, makes him wrong.
I stopped reading their letters because I realized that wasn’t any of my business.
I’m upset with a governor who disappears. I don’t care if he was having sex with someone while missing, that’s not hurting the state. Being missing is the part that was hurting the state.
    Still, he’s a hypocritical dumbass.

  5. Gaoo – Gary didn’t see it coming.Magpie – Duly notedTonya – I leaning a little more toward “I can’t imagine getting myself into that situation” at this point. Becs – Saw a lot of typos today, but because of the Breakingness of the MJ News. ~~Silk – I think “lightening” is a stretch.Tami – I think its the same thing I thought about Clinton; the problem is the self-destructive level of STUPID. Do I still think he’s smart enough to do his job? Not really. It’s as if he spelled potato incorrectly.

  6. Feh, I live in that United State this bozo is running — and a piss poor job he’s done, too. I’m relieved only in that I didn’t VOTE for this ass. I don’t care if he had an affair with a woman in Argentina or a zebra in Swaziland. I care that he was that much of an IDIOT about it. I mean, at this point I expect my politicians to be lying sacks of shit, but I expect them to be SMART about it. Don’t show me the man behind the curtain! Oh, and DO SOMETHING USEFUL.
And I’m stuck here another year, at least. Bah!

  7. Sherri – Bah, indeed. Someone on the radio this Friday complained that politicians were so bad at sneaking around when you’d like them to.
