Drugs: too good

I apologize for yet another entry in the Illness category, but it was destined to be a blog about health this week. In one five day stretch I scheduled two tests, one office visit, two vaccinations, and one procedure with one day of prep.

On top of all that, the neurologist’s office called to tell me that I’m an overachiever and my drug is working too well at inhibiting my lymphocytes.

A normal lymphocyte reading in the blood bottoms out at 0.080. Mayzent drops me to 0.020, where I have been for years. Only this February I dropped to 0.019, and now 0.018. “I suck at lymphocytes,” says my spleen. “I’m not making any more.”

So now my next refill will be for the 1mg pill, not the 2mg, which I guess will push me up to 0.040, which is hopefully still in the sweet spot. I wonder if I’ll feel a great rush of lymphocytes surging through my blood.
