Is your elderly cat toothless?
If I see a snaggle-toothed cat I assume those teeth fell out, or were pulled out, or were left in some other cat’s haunches.
In reality, those teeth might have “resorped”, or just kind of sublimated out of existence.
Poor kitties, with the vanishing teeth.

… it sounds a little more like Aggravated Cavities rather than sublimation? Painful tooth areas caused by the disappearance of dentin, although they apparently do not know *why* the dentin disappears whereas the cavity-making process is slightly better understood in humans [well, there are several of them, and some of them are at least partly understood…].
But also yes, poor toothless kitties!
KC – Maybe some advanced evolution. House kitties don’t need their teeth.
