Drug Muddle

When I had two dogs, I never knew who fouled the house. It’s the same with medication.

I’m on antibiotics plus this new incontinence medicine, oxybutynin — and I can’t tell which is causing my side effects. Well, side effect. If I eat more than half a meal my stomach stops digesting and then … goes backward. I, shall we say, un-digest it. Indigestion is a side effect of the oxybutynin, or it might be nausea from the antibiotic.

If it is the obybutynin, I can’t figure the risk vs reward. I can’t tell if it is helping my bladder, because I don’t think a drug has been manufactured that can hold up against a croup cough.

When the antibiotics are gone I’ve got a month-long window without any other unusual daily doses muddling up the equation before I see the urologist again. I hope that’s enough time to make an informed decision.

  1. Uuuugh yes. Anything with multiple factors is a pain to tease out. (or just impossible, sometimes, sigh)
May it get better soon so you don’t even *need* to figure out which dog it was.

  2. KC – Well, it’s about to get worse – I start the new drug for the clinical trial tomorrow. (Or the old drug plus the placebo.)

Comment, even if you aren't on WordPress. Make up a name. Fine by me.
