Whew. Looks like I panicked. On further research I am not born of the slave-trading branch of my Huguenot family.
I don’t know what the patriarch Balthazar did, but only one of his great-grandchildren took the slave-trading path. In the image above I put a red mark by the Wikipedia-tagged evil Bristol branch, while the cousin from whence came my non-notable branch has a green mark.
I am so very relieved. I have enough shame without inheriting it from my family.
