I thought I could come to the blog to find out how old my pink laptop is – all I see is a reference to Gary having paid it off in May of 2009.
It held on until May of 2021, so 12 years. It did need the lid replaced once. But, the CD tray went out when I had two more un-streamable CDs to burn, dang it.
It has joined the other old computers in the basement PC graveyard, waiting for the resurrection when cyberattacks make all technology obsolete and we go back to pre-cloud Windows 7.

That’s frankly amazing. I will be interested to hear how long the new laptop lasts; we’re having trouble getting more than 5-6 years out of our laptops, although they’re basically our only “devices” (no tvs, cell phones are old flip phones, no tablets aside from a kindle paperwhite) and they do see heavy use in multiple senses.
What kind is your new one?
KC – oh there is no new one. The iPads have taken the place of the laptops. No CD burner though.
But typing? Do you have a regular desktop machine?
KC – nope. I just use the on-screen keyboard.
And yet you write. and blog. and work. I am officially impressed!
