I’m always flummoxed by the surveys that ask: “Which do you prefer, sunrise or sunset?” How is this even a question? I’ve never seen a spectaular sunrise, though I’ve seen them over Haleakala and the Grand Canyon. I see spectacular sunsets on the regular.
This past year I’ve been in my kitchen at sunrise every morning, and I make a point of finding out when sunrise is, and it is routinely a disappointment . Sky gets lighter. Yawn. No amazing colors breaking through clouds.
Until yesterday.
I realize now that my sunrise view is blocked by houses and trees, and it has to be a high sweeping sunrise for me to see it.
It did occur to me that I might get a better view of the sunrise if I look out the windows on the opposite side of the house.
