  1. You seem to be teaching yourself to paint from a book. Is that true? Have you also taken courses. I love art museums, but I feel pretty ignorant about art. Never had an art course, so my opinion is completely uninformed, but I do like that last version of the small painting.

  2. Arlene – I began my learning process with on-line tutorials which are far cheaper than live art classes. After I learned the principles, I just experimented for a year, and ended up needing to work in two things at once: one large piece where I experiment and fail, and a small one where I literally go by the book of tutorials, where I can get some feeling of success.
