Bullets on a Saturday

  • Here’s an update on Gary’s retirement. He’s still sleeping 12 hours a day. He’s moving his bowels for an hour each day, which I would find hard to believe, only there’s auditory evidence. In addition, he tries to do one productive thing each day, which means he’s gotten all the tornado damage cleaned up. The productive things in that case were: calling the companies, paying the companies, getting the government forms filled out, picked up, calling the inspector and writing the checks. Then for some reason on Thursday he got four things done in one day. Perhaps he’s bored? That would make me sad. I love coming home to find he’s done nothing all day. A workaholic widow’s dream come true.
  • I had an idea for an iPad app. It’s a version of Google street view that would plug into a treadmill, and while you walk it would show you what you’d be walking past in Paris, say. Come to find out, they have already made it. Eee! More dreams come true.
  • And, to round things out on the dreams-come-true theme, BNL is coming to Saint Louis in October. Gary insisted he couldn’t enjoy the concert from anything more than five seats back, so we had to spring for the Silver VIP tickets. Whatever. It’s my birthday month.

  1. I have to say, up close is FAR more enjoyable,as I’ve done it both ways. Far away makes me cranky. I’m just too cheap lately to get the VIP package. I thought of you when I saw they were going to St. Louis in the fall. Lucky you! Enjoy!

  2. Why bother paying for expensive seats? Do like folks did at the BNL concert I went to in NJ: Get cheap back-of-the-hall SRO tickets, then just walk down the aisle and stand in front of the folks who were so silly as to pay for close seats. and everyone seems to think this is just fine.

  3. Kristie – I’m getting cheaper. I was going to save a hundred bucks and sit one row back, but Gary wouldn’t go for it.
~~Silk – It depends on the security where you are. At the Pageant in Saint Louis, NO ONE was permitted in front. In Albequerque, there was no security at all when we were in the front row. Given that the Peabody is selling the three rows of Orchestra Pit seats for $200 plus per seat, they won’t let anybody there. There’s no place for anyone to dance anyway, the seats are right by the stage.
Hattie – Besides, it puts too much pressure on the spouse to remember one particular day.
