CNN Is Freaking Me Out

I kept catching the tail end of some PSA, in which a woman pleasantly tells me she had pain in her abdomen, and come to find out IT WAS CANCER, and she advises all of us to “be brave and go to the doctor” if we have unexplained pain for over two weeks. It might be uterine cancer.

So now I’m convinced the unexplained pain in my arm means I have arm cancer. The spot where my deltoid meets my bicep has hurt for six months. The mattress saleswoman diagnosed it as a symptom of a bad bed, but I suspect I sprained it sometime. I haven’t put it in a sling or applied alternating hot and cold packs, which is good, because that would have just masked my cancer.

Still, I take the PSA woman’s advice to heart. If I began having cramps again and heavy periods I’d be at the doctor immediately.

  1. My mom went to the doctor for shoulder pain and ended up with a hysterectomy for uterine cancer. (I may be skipping a few details, but still…)
