Rest In Peace, Phyllis Diller

See, here’s a nice photo of Phyllis Diller. She lived in Webster Groves while she was starting in comedy.

At times (infrequently), I’ll ask Gary before I put some humiliating information about him on the blog. He sighs and says, “Sure, I’ll be your Fang.”

  1. I used to listen to her on the radio in the old days in SF before she was well known. I loved her books, too. She was a funny, funny woman. You know at that time it was considered daring to admit you were a lousy housewife? She would joke about how she couldn’t bake anything because there was too much crud in the oven. This was before self-cleaning ovens! You had to defrost the fridge, too. I don’t know how we survived such hardship!

  2. Hattie – There was some 70s show that had a running joke about the freezer – was it Rhoda? The freezer space kept getting smaller and smaller.
