The iLiving iBible

Today we celebrate Christ’s resurrection and Wilma’s birth.

About a month ago, Wilma said to Gary, “I was wondering if Doris Day ever got married. Would that be on the Internet?”

“We can Google it on my phone.”

“Oh! I’ve heard of Google.”

Any guesses as to what Wilma is getting for her birthday? Any guesses? Yes. That. The fanciest Internet-viewing device / camera / bible-reader in all of creation. I can’t even say it. You know what it is.

The thing is, she really wants to be able to read her heavy giant Bible on it, and her preferred translation is the 1970’s Living Bible.

You can’t buy just the Living Bible for the iP- oops, almost said it. First off, Apple doesn’t acknowledge its existance (like the iTunes and the Beatles).

Second, you can’t even get just ONE translation, because all the applications have heavy translation comparisons.

Finally, you can’t BUY a Bible. Bible apps are mostly FREE.

This last point is killing Gary, because he researches purchases to death and then always picks the most expensive option. “This Bible is FREE? Well, it can’t be any good.” I swear, he said that three times this Easter morning.

We finally did find a 35 dollar i-Bible that has “interactivity.” I don’t know what this means. Are the Psalms put to music? Perhaps a map? Lightning comes out of the iPad and strikes evil-doers dead?

Annnd – that reminds me! Arhan-fay is coming for Easter and will watch us eat ham. I think this will push him to the limits of keeping his tongue still.

  1. Hopefully he will remember he is at someone else’s house and will have the same respect for the observation of their superstitions as he would expect for them to have for the observation of his superstitions in his house.

  2. A young Indian lady started working with us a few months ago. She is Hindu and vegetarian. At first I felt a little weird eating my kill in front of her. After I thought about it a while I thought to myself why should the burden of accommodation be on me? It was needless thinking, I have found that she does not give a rat’s rear what I am eating as long as she isn’t eating it.

  3. I bought my mom an e-reader. I loaded all the books from Kobo that I had and gave it to her – I thought it would be a great way for me to share books with her. She somehow managed to delete everything off of it. Now I think she’s afraid of it because she’s gone back to paper books and it sits uncharged in a drawer.

  4. Zayrina – Arhan-Fay in the past would have commented. He seems to have matured. He heads back to NY Tuesday. Hattie – She and I were arguing over which apple cake recipe is better, hers or my grandceils. Turns out the recipes are identical.Amy in StL – I was so delighted Wima loved her Kindle after she played with it for an hour. She played with the iPad today, so I think she’ll bond with it too.
