Issue

Wednesday before the cruise: I hear a scritching in the wall. Is it a squirrel? I ignore it.

Thursday before the cruise: I find mouse droppings in the broiler pan which is stored under the oven. I delude myself and say, oh, I haven’t used that pan in years,so that mouse must be dead.

So, tonight I went on a little bit of a cooking spree, and two of the five bowls I pull from under the counter contained mouse poo.

“Gary, we have mice.”
“It is spring. Everyone has mice. Let them be.”
“The mice must die. Remember the last time?”
“Oh, all right. There are still unused traps out in the garage. I’ll bring them in.”

I hate mice, and mice in my Kitchen is unthinkable. Because when mice die all their lice jump off. Into my corningware. Shudder.

  1. Myself, I would be more concerned about the fact that mice dribble urine constantly – it’s Hansel and Gretel all over again, but yellower.

  2. Blacksnake. No muss, no fuss, no odor, can go anywhere a mouse can go, even in the walls, and cleans up the mice, lice and ticks and all. Leaves behind (relatively) clean dry vacuumable pellets. Departs quietly when the food supply is gone.

  3. Maybe Big Dot’s mice are different from mine, but my mice always pick one spot where they all piddle, usually somewhere in the insulation. They DO poop constantly. Pooping is kind of like dropping crumbs. The trail leads to food and a mate.

  4. Big Dot – Urine is invisible. It is invisible to me. I do not acknowledge mouse urine. Silk – Mac would kill it, or vice versaBenchmark – Allergic …

  5. Oh, an update – I cleaned everything on the sanitize setting in the dishwaher, removed all murds (mouse turds), put peanut butter in a bowl and laid two stick glue traps.

  6. Ugh. We filled up 4 traps last year. I get the ones that snap shut so you never see the mouse if you don’t want to.
