  1. Tami – I kept thinking it had steak in it, but it was simply the burnt bits of egg. I will need to look up tartileffe in the Joy of French Cooking.

  2. The French assistante here in the staffroom says it’s a galette and made all our mouths water by describing the potato, onion, pancetta and cheese inside it.

  3. Big dot – there was a time
    I could eat scalloped potatoes au gratin folded in a package with some pork meat and not think of it as lard mixed with fat and fried In butter.
