Yes! I know Barenaked Ladies is coming to Saint Louis. Squee! They’ll be at the Pageant 11/7/2010. Seriously, get tickets. And say hi if you see me in line at the Pageant at 5:00 pm Friday.
Granted, I’ll have seen them a week earlier in Albuquerque when I go there to visit my brother. I think my brother suspects I’m going to Albuquerque to see the band and visiting him as an afterthought. Not true. Of course, we won’t be staying with Dave because Gary has issues about sleeping under someone else’s roof. He gets hugely uncomfortable if he isn’t the King of the Castle. Perhaps he thinks the woods are going to advance on him.
Hopefully we’ll have yet another nice hotel stay. This one has horsies!
… and, it would seem, no windows.
Barenaked Ladies almost put me in a sticky position. If they had played one day earlier, I would have to choose between a BNL concert in my city and a dream come true. This dream is so big, and so utterly wasteful, that I hesitate to say it because you all will hate me so.
I will whisper it.
“I’ll be in the luxury suite at the Four Seasons downtown the night before.”
So, remember the plan to go to Vegas? The friends with husbands found they could not accept the long-distance parenting and put the kibosh on that. But we are nothing if not compromising. We found that for the same budget we can stay downtown one night at the Four Seasons! The suite (and, of course, bidet) is booked for the night before the BNL concert.
I know. Dodged that bullet. That would have been the ultimate first world problem. A “king of the world” problem. Not just “My diamond shoes pinch too tight,” but “My diamond shoes pinch too tight when I wear them with my platinum orthotics.”
If it makes anyone feel better, this is all because I haven’t saved a dime for my retirement in the last two years. Mock me later in life when I eat cat food with my silver cat food spoon.

Hey, if you have to have problems, I say, bring on the first world problems!
I’m glad you knew! I almost missed it myself, so I had to email you as soon as I heard. I actually thought it was a BNL cover band coming. I was going to see them, but this is better. As Ed once said they are the best BNL cover band in the world! : ) Yeah!
“The friends with husbands found they could not accept the long-distance parenting and put the kibosh on that.”Technically, the friends with husbands found their husbands could not accept the long-distance parenting. I would have gone in a heartbeat if Mr. Hot Mom weren’t such a whiny baby about being a parent.
Wyo – I know. Still, I feel like I need to apologize. Rachel from the cruise – I know – very under the radar. and the Pageant is not that big!Hot Mom – I deliberately constructed that sentence so it could be interpreted either way. Thanks for clarifying!
It isn’t big! I don’t want to have to throw any elbows. Also, I can’t wait to run into out front : )
Rachel -just realized I’m in the fan club so I can buy my seats early (noon). So you won’t see me. Plus did you hear? Stevens solo album is delayed till octber.
LN! My dad used to stay at the Four Seasons whenever he was on a business trip in NYC. During Freddie’s first deployment, my dad invited me to join him for brakfast in the restaurant (where I ate $32 scrambled eggs) ANYWAY. We sat down together and the waiter came over, took my dad’s order, nodded his head in my direction and then said,”And for your wife, sir?”And my dad and I both went,”GAAAAAAH!”Because we are so very, very refined.(Apparently they get a lot of May/December up in those hoity-toity joints!)
Haha. I meant that I would see you concert night because we have that kind of thing goin’ on. I didn’t hear that about Steve’s album. Bummer.
Erin G – I will keep my eye out for it. I won’t stand next to any young men while I’m there. Rachel – I got it from his twitter account. He also said “But the vinyl is pressed (Yay!)” I KNOW. He doesn’t seem like a “Yay!” kind of guy.
