Why Bad Things Happen

Update – Ken is out and fine-only crazy cranky!

==========================

Maybe bad things happen to us so we know how to behave when bad things happen to others.

Gary’s Dad broke his hip yesterday.

Karen was at the hospital every minute because she felt so comforted when her husband stayed with her in the hospital.

I was at the hospital to be with Gary, since his Dad was sick and he was with me and Mom every evening when she was in the hospital.

Mom never visited anyone in the hospital because she hated getting visits when she was thirteen and in the hospital with polio.

Surgery is tomorrow. Gotta get to bed. Send warm wishes to my Dad-in-law.

  1. Ouch, broken hips suck. I presume he will be headed to rehab shortly. It takes a while to get over the hip thing, the good news is he has an excellent chance of being good as new.

  2. Holy Carpaloo. I am so sorry. My girlfriend just had a hip replacement (age 52) and she is thrilled with it. There were some older people in rehab when K-Dawg was going through his knee replacement surgery and they were doing really well.I will keep you in my thoughts.

  3. Wow, I hope everything goes swimmingly for him. He should totally milk the attention for all it’s worth.

  4. 3 – Can;t call, just woke up from a 7 – 11 at night nap. We were wiped. greenwords – Well, the visiting seems to give some kind of tortured comfort that only the in-laws understand. ~~Silk – You know, you all can pray too. I just didn’t want to limit anyone.Zayrina – Wilma is dead set aginst the rehab center. She says he can have private nurses do it at home.Sherri – Welllll… Wellllll … No, not really silly. I can’t mock the love and devotion. Except to say I heard “DON’T TELL HIM HE HAS A CATHETER” today. In all seriousness.Crystal – You can’t cross your legs?Surprising Woman – You are the third person who reports high praise for a new hip. I want one now.Amy in Stl – He is geeting loads of attention, and his wife AND DOG miss him tremendously.Caroline – Thanks. He seems fine, except for some high blood presssure.

  5. Men are cranky patients. :(But I think that means they’re feeling better.Ah…that explains the lack of answering the phone.
