You know I love alternative religious texts. Well, read up on this one, a bible that’s been hiding in Russia since the mid 1800’s. It’s the “oldest surviving copy of the New Testament,” dating back to the 4th century, when I understand the Gospels were written [down] – and it has no post-resurrection details at the end of the Gospel of Mark. Mark just ends with an angel telling about the resurrection “and then they all ran away” and that’s it. So, no visits to North America to see the Mormon Indians.
And, I can’t wait for “Epistle of Barnabas” and the “Shepherd of Hermas.”
And I really want to hear more on this line from the article: “And in 1975, monks stumbled on 12 more pages and 40 fragments stashed in a hidden room at the monastery.” It’s just the way the sentence is structured – to suggest they were standing around saying, “Huh. What to do today?” “Well, brother, let us tidy up the hidden room.” “Yea verily, I am sometimes curious about those fragments of Greek texts IN OUR HIDDEN ROOM.” I would be curious about anything in a hidden room.
I’m an apocrypha geek.

Dumb, dumb, dumb…
I’m fascinated by it as well. It scares me how much control people had and have over what we know about an entity we’re supposed to put all our confidences in.
Fascinating it surely is, but you know that Dan Brown’s going to write a novel about it, then Tom Hanks will star in it. Let’s stop them now before it gets that far!
Friend #3 – South Park shout out!Katie – Well, it’s scary if you assume they were people like us. Perhaps they were special.KC – Actually, that soumds like a movie I’d like to see. Will there be car chases, though?
