From the Washington Post, April 2, 1984 Style section (confirmed by the Washington Post archives):
A group of Washingtonians was playing the hottest new version of the popular game Trivial Pursuit, called Baby Boomer, over the weekend and was surprised to come across the following question: “How many months pregnant was Nancy Davis when she walked down the aisle with Ronald Reagan?” The answer on the other side of the card: “Two and a half.”
I have heard this stated as fact. I believe my source was a Playboy, however. This does have the ring of truth, given that it’s in the Washington Post archives.
The story goes on.
John Nason, vice president of marketing at Selchow & Righter, the American manufacturer of Boomer, said he was “embarrassed” that the game with the Nancy Davis question was in circulation. “We have taken that question out of the game because it is distasteful in this country. Those are all contraband and black-marketed games people are buying in American stores.”
A White House spokesman was aware of the “distasteful” question, adding that there would be no comment on the subject.
Well, wouldn’t you think that Canadians bought the original Canadian version which was likely not banned, and that one could go on Google images and find a photo of the card? One cannot.
I really want this to be true, but without photo evidence it’s hard to believe.
