Odd GLP side effect

Usually, after I take my Zepbound shot on Saturday, it’s pretty hard to eat on Sunday. I’ll do it, but everything looks pretty unappetizing. That is the point, of course. Generally on Sunday I’ll force down a protein bar and some fiber until I hit 400 calories, anyway. By Monday I’m back on track.

Oddly, this week my Sunday indifference extended into Monday and part of Tuesday as well. No appetite for almost three days.

I thought, “Maybe I just need a greater temptation.” And because I was already running errands on Manchester Road I went to Nathaniel Reid bakery for a canelé.

Very long line.

I persevered. Such is my desire for canelé. It cannot be quenched even by brutal GLP shots.

I finally got to the counter. “A canelé, please.”

“What is that,” she said.

I pivoted and pointed at three copper canelé molds perched on a nearby shelf. “It’s what comes out of those.”

”Oh,” she said, unfeeling. “We don’t make those anymore.”

I was dismayed. I consoled myself with une petite chocolate gateau, and une chocolate-almond croissant, and une wee slice of bacon quiche, and then I also spied a puffy flaky thing.

“What is that,” I said, pointing greedily at said puffy flaky thing.

“A kouign. It’s like a croissant with the lamination, but it also has layers of creme-brulee crust, sort of.”

Over the course of Sunday I was able to eat all the quiche, and half of the spectacular kouign.

No fiber or protein whatever in that, but the quiche was loaded with protein.
