The previous back door had beveled glass and would cast rainbows on the back wall in the morning. As I thought might happen, when we upgraded the door the new bevels were different somehow and we no longer saw the prism effect.
I can report that the new door is like Stonehenge and will only step up with the rainbows on a certain day. I took this photo Friday (T- minus 2 days to solstice). I didn’t check today. But tomorrow is the solstice.
I will update this tomorrow morning at 9:11 a.m., if it isn’t cloudy.
UPDATE: I was very disappointed today at 9:11. Then at 9:17 there was one square. Aways the scientist, I covered the one potential prism ornament on the Christmas tree with a post-it, went to check if it was cloudy, and it was, and I turned around disappointed and there it was. Not as brilliant as Friday but still there.
