Neuro visit 8/2025

I had another lovely visit with the neurologist, as always.

Notable events:

  • He measured my liver numbers, as he usually does, but I gave him an extra reminder because the GP’s office was particularly concerned. Turns out the liver is fine and simply didn’t like the statin for my cholesterol.
  • The drug I take may be used in the future to combat another autoimmune disorder: ulcerative colitis.
  • I will be going back to the dermatologist every year, as per his wishes and against the dermatologist’s wishes. He also wants me to increase my Vitamin D by one pill a week, which I remember as against the primary doctor’s wishes. I asked if his advice also trumped my primary doctor’s advice and he responded by saying he only conceded to the urologist, and only when prescribing drugs that cause kidney stones.
  • Finally, we were talking about what might happen if I were offered, shall we say, an opportunity to retire early. Like three years early. The insurance costs, of course, would be difficult. He mentioned I could try to get disability. I said that I wasn’t eligible for long-term disability, when I started this job they gave me an orange card that said essentially, “Don’t even try if you have any of these conditions,” and of course, MS was on the list. However, when the doctor said the word “disability”, Mom-in-my-head looked at him and yelled, “SHE’S not disabled. She’s the only healthy one. Does she have POLIO? Mental ILLNESS? CANCER? No? Don’t talk to me about disability, you insolent puppy.”

It was quite nice. I haven’t heard from Mom-in-my-head for a year now.
