Now that the eternal purgatory of the Granceil painting is over and my confidence is a sloppy puddle of debris, I return to the benchmark test of the croquet balls, mallet, and small mason jar.

It’s a test so many things: can I draw an ellipse? (There are two.) Can I paint a cast shadow? (Evidently not in 2018.) I’ll need to add an element so I can test the shadow casting.
