Maybe prop up a piece of foam core behind them this time? Unless you want to keep the background… (having a “back” to the piece also affects light and refraction)(… which you undoubtedly know. Anyway.)
Zoom in by what mechanism? (there’s still a bar stool or something behind the glass even if you crop the edges)
(trying to paint that fabric would drive me absolutely nuts, but you have already demonstrated you can successfully take on challenges. 🙂 I will be really interested in how you tackle this one!)

KC – I think I am going to use my imagination to block the background with the fabric. And then paint that.
