Weekly Paint Progress: 6/3

This week the pansies went from this:

… to this:

8A45F8CC-2911-4953-A2BF-5F3AA007AC7F

Close to this?

No! Sigh … I know, I got carried away with the light green. Maybe I’ll do a golden-brown wash over everything. I always say that. Maybe this time I’ll do it. But I kind of like the carnival colors in mine, too.

The seascape went from this:

D64BA3C1-6C15-409F-A8CA-F1FBA3A33BAB

… to this:

AA382791-BF23-40BB-BC2E-879C4AA766FF

That horizon is wonky.

  1. The only part that’s not making sense to me is the frilly cabbage leaf sort of shaped like a pansy petal between the pansy and the upper left corner of the picture? Nothing in the picture otherwise has leaves like that? But yes, some of that exact shade of light green needs to be toned down or variegated or something.
(can you do an extremely thin brown overwash on only the non-flower parts of the picture?)
And man. New horizons are rough sometimes. I have no idea if it’s right or wrong, even. Good luck!

  2. Yes, the cabbage leaf was much smaller in the original. I always start drawing on a grid and by the third of fourth square it all goes off the rails. So, you have heard of cabbages roses? I’m calling this a cabbage pansy.
