Election Prep

Remember when CNN convinced me there would be rioting after Obama’s election in 2016? And then there was no rioting at all? People taunted George W. Bush on the way out, that’s about all the rioting there was.

Have I learned my lesson, though? No, I have not. I am now worried that there will be gun-toting mouth-breathing un-masked poll-watchers standing one foot away. The odds are low, but the risks are high. And what will most likely happen is there will be no riot, but it is possible it will be crowded and slow.

To that end, I have purchased a cunning seat that folds up flat. It takes a little work to position ones butt exactly at the center nexus, otherwise one tumbles over.

I have already picked out the masks and gaiter I will be wearing.

In addition to looking back at 2008, I am looking back at 2000 and the stalling that got us past the Safe Harbor, if you are wondering why we’re voting in person. Starting to get excited.

  1. I have several of those seats. There are two ways to sit on it — the wrong way and the rght way. The wrong way is to sit on it like a chair, with your back to the handle. The least shift of weight can dump you, and possibly break the legs joint. The correct way, recommended by the maker, is to sit facing the handle, straddling the handle with your legs. That distributes your weight evenly, and is very stable. Also much more comfortable.
Good luck, and be sure to take nibbles and water.
