Today marks the third time the Celebrity Hat has been out of Her box this year. First for Friend #2’s fundraiser, then for the Virtual Kentucky Derby, and this past Saturday for the rescheduled Kentucky Derby.
Just a few nods given to 2020:
- Supposedly only the top ten percent were allowed to attend in person.
- The lyrics to My Old Kentucky home were bypassed by having it played on a trumpet. They needed something more beyond getting rid of the term “darkies” which was gone by the time I got there in 2011.
- Was no one else troubled by the swerve the winning horse made right out of the gate into the other horse’s lane? Didn’t we just have a horse controversy for that very reason a few years ago?

KC – there’s the alternate ending, when CH starts taking uppers to keep up the pace and dies in a hotel room.
