So, this was the end result of the teacups.
It has its flaws, but I still I went ahead and framed it and told Gary we were giving it to his parents.
This is how he hung it up over at their house.
I’m sure if I had opted for a standard still life, with erect teacups and a bowl that sits on its base, there would have been no problem. Instead, he decided that since there are no visual clues he would just make the objects in the still life defy gravity.
I made him call his parents so they could correct it. He called while I was at work, and because he didn’t listen to my explicit directions, the bowl is now on the bottom. Still wrong.
And it’s even signed, faintly, in the bottom right. I thought the teacups were pretty realistic. Evidently not.

Alternately, having observed this painting in progress, he’s just trolling you. 😉
KC – no, he was genuinely annoyed that I didn’t give him “clear” instructions.
???! Okay, that is weird. That is definitely weird.
