Radio and Rain

Last Friday afternoon I had an errand to run. I checked the weather report and rain was not expected, no doubt because it wasn’t the weekend yet. During the ten-minute drive, I thought I heard on the radio that bad weather might be moving in, but I dismissed it because I only half-listen to the radio.

When I first got in the car the sky was blue, then ten minutes later when I got out the sky was so black the streetlights were on. This happened with the Great Flood in ’93: thunderstorms would pop up out of a literally clear and literally blue sky.

So, counting the police on Bennington and the thunderstorm, this is twice in a row that the radio has tried to alert me and I have dismissed it. I think I started ignoring the radio when they began playing the hockey team’s favorite song 24 hours a day, and who could blame me?
