Gary Coins a Term

We were discussing people Gary saw at the funeral, and he described someone as his cousin’s daughter.

“So,” I said, “Your first cousin once removed.”

“Don’t use that term. That’s a silly term.”

“Well, it’s the right term. What would you call her?”

He thought a moment. “She’s my CousinNiece.”

“So what’s her daughter,” I asked, trying to show him the value of “twice removed.”

“My great CousinNiece. Duh.”

  1. Magpie – still, how would he describe Beyonce’s relationship to Princess Kate? Cousins 23 times removed sounds better than spelling out all those “Greats.”
    Becs – druuuuuuuuuugs.
Hattie – I’m usually the one who doesn’t get things…
