Spunky has been asking me for days to do a pictorial photo spread of her doing a striptease.You know, the first little piggy has no toenail polish, annnnnd THIS little piggy has no toenail polish, and so on. But this would require I strip her of her toenail polish.

I don’t want to remove that polish, and some of you already know why.
It’s chipped. And the nice thing about almost-black nail polish? When it chips, you get a black marker and scribble it on your exposed white toenail spot. In fact, right now Spunky’s left index toe is almost entirely Bic Flair Black. Oh, her big toes are growing out. Just a little felt-tip around the cuticle – scribble, scribble, done.
What I fear is that I will remove the polish and the ink pen will be indelible, so I’ll have freckles where the chips were, or that I will steal a red felt-tip from work and match it to a color on the nail polish web site for my next pedicure.

I have a serious question for Spunky. I’ve had neon colors on my toes all summer – with the requisite white layer underneath to make the colors pop and I’ve noticed that my nails are white and flaky. Not toe fungus white; just dry and peely. I’ve been putting lotion on my nails which helps, but I’m wondering if you’ve ever had this problem and what you do to prevent nailpolish from drying out your nails?
Spunky Says: Dear Amy_in_StL – No. But, I pay those fuckers at Pricey West County Salon over fifty bucks every four weeks to tend to my toes. First, my feet soak a while in soapy water. Then the lady takes off the old polish very fast, and puts my feet back in the water. Then old skin is filed off and toenails are taken down. My ankles and feet are rubbed with scrub and rinsed off. Then each toe is massaged with oil and wrapped in a hot towel to rest a while. After that, the cuticle doo hickey comes out, cuticles are pushed back, and the nails are buffed against the grain with a file of some type. Then there’s a foot massage with moisturizer. Then the toe spreaders come out. My toes are separated with the foam dividers and the lady has me put the disposable flipflops on. Then she paints my nails with some white fibrous undercoat, then almost instantly puts on the polish, then immediately adds the top coat. No time is given for ultra-violet fan drying or anything like that. Spunky is on her way. The whole thing takes an hour. Maybe you need the toe soaking in oil wrapped in hot towels part. It lasts ten minutes, I think. Good Luck! Kisses!
