- I was a little surprised when I noticed the score of the Cards game tonight: 0-0 in the fifteenth inning. Eventually it got to the twentieth inning … when we lost. It reminded me of a game I saw I could never find again on the internet: a game that eventually ended at two in the morning. Ended or was called, game or doubleheader, I can’t remember.
- Gary is back and the dog is back to bossing us. Gary put down a plate of chopped up chicken, and the dog barked at him until he also put down a plate of canned dog food. And then the bastard dog snarfed down the chicken and let the dog food sit there, as if to say “given a CHOICE I prefer CHICKEN, ELLEN.”
- There has been an international interest in babkas, and a number of translations of my first babka post (when I was young and hopeful). The most recent was into Italian. Out of curiosity I copied the Italian text:
“Sabato scorso mi sono addormentato nel nido e si è svegliato sognando di Babka cioccolato. Pensai devo essermi addormentato durante l’episodio di Seinfeld, ma il TiVo ha negato di aver passato a quella stazione. Posso solo immaginare NPR o CNN allevato babkas.”
I did a translation back to English and instead of the original (“Last Saturday I fell asleep in the nest and woke up dreaming of chocolate babka. I assumed I must have fallen asleep during that episode of Seinfeld, but the tivO denied that it had switched to that station. I can only guess NPR or CNN brought up babkas. “)
… I got this:
“Past saturday is fall asleep to me in the nest and it has been waked up dreaming of chocolate Babka. I thought I must be fall asleep during l’ episode of Seinfeld, but the TiVo has denied to have last to that station. I can only imagine raised NPR or Cnn babkas.”…so I feel a little better about my weak Portuguese translation on the Portuguese comments.
