File Under Misc.

So, at 4:30 I woke up and thought my hard drive on the laptop was really thrashing a lot. So much it was shaking the eyeglasses on the lid. Of course, other than that, I slept through the earthquake.

But I really enjoyed the aftershock that came when I was at the lawyer’s office. I like natural disasters. A little part of me roots for the levee to break or the tornado to hit next door.

Oh, and this morning I put Mom’s only jewelry onto my pinkies: a great-grandmother’s engagement ring and Mom’s wedding ring from Jerry. Which is now gone. Fell off my hand at the in-laws, probably in the grass. Oh, well, it was from Jerry, no even symbolic value. Only that Mom lives in my head and is very disapproving right now.

Time to head off for GNO, where I will drink the Mom Inheritance liquor of Scotch and Apricot brandy.

  1. The quake woke me from a sound sleep. Somehow, in spite of the fact that we live near an airport, very near a busy intersection on a highway, and in the tornado belt, I immediately thought, “earthquake!”, not “airplane crash!” or “tornado!”. I woke Santa up, because he had woken me up the 2 previous mornings, once in the throes of a nightmare he was having, and the next morning he was lying naked in the dining room floor yelling for help, (Long story.)so I figured why should he get to sleep, he mumbled and went back to sleep. I was awake from then on. God had better cooperate in the morning so I can sleep or there will be hell to pay.

  2. Finally got over here after some time had gone by, only to see your mom had passed. I’m so sorry. Wish I had more to offer, but words don’t come. Thank you so much for taking time out to answer all my questions. It was appreciated more than you know.

  3. Zayrina – I speak for everyone when I say I want more of the Santa lying naked in the dining room story.Sue – Thank you sue. Hope things work out in the best possible way.
