Weekly Paint Progress: 6/11/2026

Here’s the previous:

Here’s the barest touch of progress : I made the closet door half a shade darker. It’s shameful but I tend to go too far too fast and I’m deliberately going at a crawl. So it’s like a guess the difference puzzle. Do you see ANY change?

… when it was originally this:

pitcher of peonies

  1. The pitcher, vase and table top seem smoother (?). The wall is lighter as well, I think. Absolutely beautiful!

  2. It’s a bit tricky since each photo is in slightly different light as well, but it does definitely look to me like there’s more contrast between the closet door (darker) and the wallpapered wall (lighter).

It also looks like there is some diagonal gradient banding across the bottom right corner of the vase (and its surroundings on the painting) but that may be a photo compression or a photo lighting trick rather than actually the painting?

  3. Lisa – The wall seems lighter because the door to the right of it is darker. Really, that thing was significantly darker when it was fresh paint. Now it’s almost imperceptible.
KC – The bands are some shadow I didn’t see when I took the photo. A lot of this is the light, and now that I think of it, it’s not the light, it’s the 2020 iPhone camera vs the 2026 iPhone camera. That’s why the buffalo looked so much better too.

Comment, even if you aren't on WordPress. Make up a name. Fine by me.
