I woke up with chills, no appetite, and again the sensation of have been hit by a truck.
I was barely hanging on at work and I knew I would have to be on my game for two hour-long meetings.
I needed to be awake, and I needed nutrition, and I realized I had just the ticket in the garage refrigerator.
Ensure.
A little 11 oz container of Max Protein Chocolate Ensure with 30 mg of protein that I purchased on a day I did not feel like eating and I did not feel like I was seventy-five years old.
It also has 100mg of caffeine. That got me through 75% of the day. Then I crashed and took to my bed. But still, Baby’s first Ensure.
I need to do something so I don’t feel aged. Maybe have another one spiked with that high-end Five Farms Baileys Irish Cream substitute.

… caffeinated ensure sounds *terrifying* but I am glad it helped. Doctoring the stuff (as long as you don’t doctor it in a way that will make you unqualified to do work) sounds brilliant!
Is this another bug or part 2 of the previous bug, do you think? (also: covid+flu test again, maybe?)
KC – It’s so odd. I’ve had chills and malaise the last three days. People at work with the same thing speculate how much worse it would have been without the flu shot.
I thought the flu shot didn’t include this branch of Flu A (they can’t include all the flus, so each year in the runup to vaccine production, they look at what’s currently spreading in various places around the world and make Very Educated Guesses but can’t always guess right, especially since flus that are in a particular year’s flu shot are sometimes *stopped from spreading as extensively* by that fact). Anyway, if none of the strains in the shot are closely-enough related to this particular awful one, it may be a similar User Experience with or without the flu shot.
May it exit stage left very soon!
I think It didn’t contain subclave (k), but it had flu A in general, so maybe subclave K is the mucus part and flu A is the fever part, and at least the fever stayed around 100?
Due to *waves hands* wayback medical things, my intestinal tract periodically shuts down or slows down to a crawl. I have to go on a liquid diet until my system reboots. Ensure is my go-to, so I am quite familiar with the milk chocolate flavor. I wasn’t aware there is a caffeine variety. Now I wonder what it would feel like to be both starving and bouncing off the ceiling with a chalky aftertaste. I will no doubt find out someday soon.
KC – I feel like I need a liquid diet reset sometimes myself. I don’t find the taste too chalky. All I ask is that it not get stringy if it’s a week old. OWYN shakes – Only What You Need – what I need are preservatives and stabilizers.
