TWIL: Why my driveway is covered in bird poop

Frankly, I’m no stickler for driveway tidiness, but this is an excessive ratio of bird poop to driveway.

It happened overnight.

I’m fairly certain it’s the crows, just because Gary’s switched from feeding the crows before the raccoons, instead of the opposite, so we have just an absurd number of crows.

Then I did some research and found the logic behind the poopfest.

1. Crows are territorial, especially if they have found a reliable food source.

2. Crows can mark their territory with poop, though this isn’t definite.

3. Crows get especially territorial during mating season, which begins in March.

So not only is it skunk fucking season, it is crow boning season. Hence the poopway.

  1. I have just this minute come in from scrubbing seagull poop off my deck, so I empathise. What is it with gulls and leg injuries? I had a no-footer turn up years ago, iPod, and I fed him for ages till he disappeared (sad story). Then, later, a one-legger arrived, Hoppy, and I fed him (her). Then s/he disappeared and another, Limpy, arrived with an injured leg, so I fed him. Then Hoppy reappeared (yay! But also, tch, now what) and I am now feeding both of them, who initially fought but recently seem to have worked out a timetable. Limpy’s leg is now better (yay! But also, tch, now what). I feel used but also unable to escape. My future will feature regular poop-scrubbing, it seems.
